The Philadelphia Floor Store (Conshohocken, Pa.) resumed online ordering and nationwide shipping services last week after a May 17 fire burned down the company’s headquarters and destroyed its entire inventory.
Until last week, the company had limited all ordering to phone and email, and was delivering only to the local tri-state area.
"While the fire presented challenges related to our national e-commerce platform, we worked long and hard to overcome those issues and are pleased to once again offer our products and services nationwide,” said Mike Glavin, owner and founder of PFS, in a statement. "While we are not yet operating at 100 percent, we’ve accomplished more than we ever dreamed possible in the two short months since the fire.”
The company has also published the first in a series of blogs with the goal of helping small businesses prepare for disasters.
The series, titled “Lessons Learned,” will walk small business owners through pitfalls related to insurance coverage and disaster recovery. The first blog post covers six ways a businesses can prepare for the worst, including data backup and having a temporary fallout space.
“We have always committed time and effort to educate our contractors, so it seemed natural to pass along what we learned in the wake of the fire,” said Glavin.
