AkzoNobel, the global paints and coatings company based in Amsterdam, released four major lifestyle trend designs for 2016 and its color of the year.

Leading wood floor finishers should pay attention. Although AkzoNobel used furniture to visualize each of its design forecasts, the trends will have influence across all industries, the company said, including wood floors.

According to AkzoNobel, the four major lifestyle trends for 2016 are: Vintage and Modern—pays tribute to vintage styling with modern aesthetics. Boho chic—looks at the free spirit of 1970s influence. Handcrafted—pays homage to items that are one-of-a-kind. Casual Luxury—iconic and glamorous products that have time-honored craftsmanship.

The color of the year is Ochre Gold.
