The National Wood Flooring Association and the American Hardwood Export Council-sponsored pavilion at Domotex Hannover in Germany Jan. 14–17 was a hit among exhibiting members, as they had constant interest among the event’s 45,000 attendees.
The event’s attendees represented more than 100 countries—50 percent came from within the European Union, 25 percent from Asia and 8 percent from the Americas. “Domotex is the definitive meeting-place for the global floor coverings industry,” said Jochen Köckler, the managing board member of event-organizer Deutesche Messe, in a statement. “No other event in the world attracts so many high-caliber decision-makers.”
This year’s 45,000 attendees and 1,441 exhibitors marked an increase from last year’s numbers of 40,000 and 1,300, respectively.
The NWFA/AHEC pavilion at Domotex Hannover, like the NWFA pavilion at Surfaces and in Domotex Shanghai, is a cost-effective method for member companies to interact with customers at shows. It consisted of a central meeting hub, including food and refreshments, surrounded by a ring of private booths.
Exhibiting in the booths were NWFA members Arboritec AB, Dunhua City Jisen Wood Industry Co. Ltd., Floor Protector, Graf Brothers Flooring, Middle Tennessee Lumber, LaCrosse Flooring by Westby Hardwood Products, Shannon Hardwood Floors, Floor Muffler, PJ Lumber Company and Jelight Company Inc.
Floor Muffler Global Supply Chain Manager Tom Haley said the company’s location within the NWFA/AHEC pavilion helped them gain a lot of attention from potential customers and other passersby.
“We feed off of each other,” he said, referring to the other exhibitors in the pavilion. “If you’re one small booth by yourself, you wouldn’t stand a chance. We’re definitely coming back next year.”
Aboritec AB Sales Director Donnie Sejdiji was exhibiting the company’s UV Elite Finish at its booth, and interest was high. “We had a lot of leads and it was very busy,” he said.
Next year’s Domotex Hannover is scheduled for Jan. 14–17.
