Steve Welch, Founder of Woodwright Hardwood Floor Co., Passes Away

Steve Welch, the owner and founder of Woodwright Hardwood Floor Co. (Dallas), passed away Jan. 26 due to complications related to cancer.

Woodwright’s portfolio under Welch’s guidance includes flooring projects at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, Kimbell Art Museum, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and the Winspear Opera House, among many other high-profile and complicated jobs. The company won a National Wood Flooring Association Wood Floor of the Year award in 2009 and 2015. (The Kimbell project was featured in the February/March 2014 issue of HF and also graced that issue’s cover.

He is survived by his wife, Lorie, and children Ransom and Copeland.

Visitation is Feb. 4 from 6–8 p.m. at the Sparkman\Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas. The funeral will take place the following day.
