Mohawk to Close Wood Flooring Plant in West Virginia

Mohawk Industries (Dallas) will close a hardwood flooring plant in Logan County, W.Va., in early may, according to West Virginia Metro News.

Mohawk will be consolidating the operations with a plant it owns in Arkansas. The closing will put 111 people out of work.

Area legislators are disappointed with the decision.

“I will work with state and federal agencies to assist these workers in any and every way I can,” said United States Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., in a statement. “Most importantly, I urge Mohawk Industries to keep the local community and its workforce in mind and to do everything it can to help the employees and their families affected by this consolidation.”
