A man from Northeastern Minnesota stole hundreds of birch trees rooted on state land, according to The Star Tribune.
The man, David Lawrence, was charged with timber trespass on state lands. He was in the area cutting down trees for three days, the paper reported.
There has been a number of birch tree thefts reported in Minnesota and Wisconsin this year. The trees are often sold to become products in the home decoration market.
