16 Percent of Building Pros Report Flooring Specialist Shortage

Sixteen percent of general contractors, remodelers and design-build firms reported moderate to severe shortages of flooring subcontractors, according to the Houzz Third Quarter 2017 Renovation Barometer report, which provides insight into the construction industry.

Regionally, the percentage of survey respondents who cited a flooring specialist shortage was 19 percent in the West, 15 percent in the Midwest, and 14 percent in both the Northeast and South.

The occupation in the shortest supply of subcontractors was carpenter, with 48 percent of survey respondents citing a shortage.
