The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will streamline all LEED prerequisites as well as some credits for California projects already pursuing LEED v4 certification. The move enables projects pursuing Californiaâs green building codes, known as CALGreen, to be pre-approved for âsignificant streamliningâ of LEED certification.
"This streamlining effort recognizes those leaders in the green building space who constantly push the market to new heights,â Wes Sullens, USGBC director for codes and technical development said in a statement. âIt also signals to the rest of the U.S. whatâs possible when you add the weight of LEED to a robust building code, and that for those already operating at this level, certification is actually very attainable."
