Somerset Hardwood Flooring (Somerset, Ky.) Owner Steve Merrick was honored at the 15th annual Hal Rogers Leadership Award Dinner in Somerset.
The fundraising event shines a spotlight on local leaders in the Pulaski County community and benefits the Boy Scouts of America.
The event, held April 23, highlighted Merrick’s accomplishments, including purchasing the company at the age of 18 and growing its employees to over 900, with a payroll of over $36 million, according to the Commonwealth Journal.
“He’s not only expanded the business and formed other companies, and has been very vibrant in the local economy, [but] is well-known throughout the United States as far as the products they’re producing,” Don Bloomer, the award dinner’s chairman, told the Journal. “We are very honored to have Steve as an honoree.”
