Construction spending fell 1.3% in June to $1.29 trillion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Spending is down 2.1% compared with June 2018.
Residential construction spending dropped 0.5% compared with May and was down 8.0% year-over-year. Nonresidential spending fell 1.8% (in June 2018 it was up 2.3% year-over-year).
Compared with June 2018, total private construction spending fell 4.6%, while total public construction spending jumped 6.1%.
