Spending is down 2.0% compared with September 2018. Residential spending ticked upward 0.6% from August, but is down 3.5% year-over-year, while nonresidential spending grew 0.5% from August and dropped 0.9% year-over-year.
Total private construction spending grew 0.2% from August and fell 4.6% year-over-year. Total public construction spending increased 1.5% from August and 6.6% year-over-year.
