Canadian Housing Starts Drop 8.7% in October

Canadian housing starts declined 8.7% in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 201,973 units, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation reported.

Urban starts decreased 9.0% from September and multiple urban starts by 12.5%. Single detached urban starts grew by 2.4%.

Overall housing starts declined 2.0% compared with October 2018’s adjusted rate of 206,171 units.
