Residential Building Wage Growth Slows to 1%

Average hourly earnings for residential building workers rose 1.0% year-over-year in June to $39.74 per hour, down sharply from a peak increase of 9.4% in mid-2024, according to a National Association of Home Builders analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

There were 305,000 construction job openings on the last day of June, a monthly increase of 14,000, and year-over-year increase of 81,000, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey.
