The Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF), a nonprofit created to address the industry’s installer shortage, named Steve Abernathy interim executive director.
Abernathy, CFO of the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), assumed the role Jan. 1.
“Steve has been involved with FCEF since its inception and continues to exhibit an enormous amount of passion and dedication to support FCEF’s ongoing efforts to further our mission,” Board Chairman Scott Humphrey said in a statement.
FCEF was formed at the beginning of the year with a donation of $1 million from the WFCA. The goal of the organization is to bring the industry together to create programs that address the installer shortage crisis.
FCEF also appointed the following committee chairs:
Development – Deb DeGraaf, WFCA
Executive – Scott Humphrey, WFCA
Finance/Investment – Ken Jackson, Shaw Industries Group Inc.
Nominating and Governance – Don Roberts, Retail Representative
Scholarship Distribution – Joe Yarbrough, The Carpet and Rug Institute
