A growing app wants to do for the construction industry what LinkedIn has been doing for other industries in terms of job hunting, Crunchbase News reports.
Trade Hounds launched its free mobile app in 2019 with the goal of connecting people in construction trades with construction firms that are hiring. The Boston-based company has raised $4.9 million in venture funding since its founding, according to the report.
“Our users can interact with each other through their preferred mode of communication: imagery and video,” one of Trade Hounds’ founders told Crunchbase News. “Electricians, plumbers, carpenters–workers across the skilled trades–prefer to ‘show’ their work through photos versus ‘tell’ about in writing. This is why existing professional platforms simply don’t work for this demographic.”
A 2020 WFB survey found that 14% of hardwood flooring contractors use LinkedIn for their businesses; 18% of hardwood flooring retailers reported using the site for their businesses.
