Governor: Dalton Flooring Workers a ‘Hot Spot’ For COVID Cases in Georgia

A “hot spot” for cases of COVID-19 in the Dalton, Ga., area appears to be tied to workers in the flooring industry, Gov. Brian Kemp told reporters Friday.

Kemp said state public health officials have been keeping a close eye on that area during the crisis, Gwinnett Daily Post reports. Georgia has seen an uptick in cases of COVID-19 in several “hot spots” around the state.

“We’ve got to continue to fight the fight hard every day (and) continue to jump on the hot spots,” Kemp said, according to the Daily Post.

Georgia has been averaging 1,200 new cases of COVID-19 per day for the past two weeks, according to the Charlotte Observer. The state began reopening its economy April 24. Kemp said there are no plans to introduce new restrictions in the state.
