Historical Dance Hall’s Wood Floor Splattered with Paint, Torn Up in Vandalism

Photos: Mount Shasta Recreation and Parks DistrictA historical dance hall’s newly refinished hardwood flooring was splintered and splattered with paint in a vandalism estimated to have inflicted $10,000-$20,000 in damage in the Mount Shasta, Calif., city building, Mount Shasta News reports.

The building, built in the 1930s, is part of the Mount Shasta Recreation and Parks District and had just undergone a renovation prior to the vandalism.

A man later described as appearing to have a mental health crisis broke into the building July 1 and began smashing the windows and pulling up some of the wood flooring. The man was arrested on the scene the morning of July 2.
