Flooring distributor sales declined 11.7% during the second quarter of 2020, according to the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors’ Quarterly Sales Trend Survey.
Despite the sales decline, distributors reported higher full-year forecasts compared with the first quarter of 2020, as many operations opened back up following COVID-19 shutdowns.Â
"Our distributor members have weathered the worst of the storm and are now seeing their businesses continue to grow each month," stated Kevin Gammonley, NAFCD executive VP. "The negative impact of the shutdown has not been as severe as initially feared."
During the second quarter, 76% of distributors reported issues with product delivery and sourcing, and 100% reported orders were canceled during the quarter due to COVID-19.
