The flooring is manufactured by fusing a thin sheet of wood with a wood fiber core through a powder mix layer. The powder mix fills natural openings of the wood, making the surface three to five times stronger than other hardwood floors, the company says.
The technology, known as Woodura, also results in 30 times more flooring produced from the same amount of lumber compared with traditional solid wood flooring, according to Välinge.
The planks are available in widths up to 11 inches and lengths up to 8 feet, with 11 color options in ash, walnut and oak (Agurtxane Concellon is pictured).
The floor is produced in Viken, Sweden, and will be sold through distributors and e-commerce in the U.S.
