U.S. hardwood flooring imports grew 8% in August, but remained 30% below August 2019 imports, The International Tropical Timber Organization reports.
It’s the third consecutive month-over-month increase in hardwood flooring imports, which grew 12% in July.
Hardwood flooring imports from China declined 41% in August and are down 56% year-over-year. Imports from China plunged in March following the outbreak of the coronavirus. Imports from Malaysia, another top hardwood flooring supplier, increased 66% in August, but remain 63% below August 2019 import levels.
