The International Certified Flooring Installers Association (CFI) announced it will reschedule its Annual Convention & Expo for a yet-to-be-determined date in 2021.
The International Certified Flooring Installers Association (CFI) announced it will reschedule its Annual Convention & Expo for a yet-to-be-determined date in 2021.
The event was previously set to take place in-person in December in Orlando, Fla.
The decision to postpone was made due to the ongoing risks of the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty regarding travel restrictions and bans on large gatherings.
“We consulted with our members, sponsors and CFI Board, monitored all the leading sources of health information and made the tough decision to reschedule our convention,” CFI Executive Director Robert Varden said in a statement. “As well, many installers are looking at making up the financial losses they suffered during the peak of the pandemic over the next few months. So asking them to take time off now is almost irresponsible on our part. While it’s disappointing that we can’t all come together in December, we believe this change serves the best interests of our community and will ultimately result in a more meaningful, rewarding, and safe event next year.”
CFI also announced it is continuing recruitment efforts for the next generation of installers, including partnerships with Goodwill Industries International and various high schools and vocational and community colleges.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with these organizations and institutions, as they break new ground to open up opportunities to careers in floor covering installation for students and build a strong pipeline of talent,” Varden stated.
