Gerald Ort Sr., Aacer Flooring Patriarch, Dies at 85

11 2 Gerald OrtGerald Eugene Ort Sr., who founded Peshtigo, Wis.-based Aacer Flooring, died Oct. 25. He was 85.

Raised on a dairy farm in Ellington, Wis., Ort went on to found a number of lumber companies over the course of his career, including Wittenberg Hardwoods and Polar Hardwoods. He purchased Tigerton Lumber Company in 1998. 

“Gerald was not one to let any grass grow under his feet, which is why he passed on a Sunday. (Not a work day),” his obituary notes.

Ort is survived by his wife, Carol, four sons and two daughters. Gerald Ort Jr. will continue to move Aacer Flooring forward.

A celebration of Ort’s life was held Oct. 31. A memorial fund has been established in his honor and will be dedicated to St. Martin Lutheran Church School, 100 South Clinton Ave., Clintonville, Wis.
