A new study is proposing that buildings made primarily of wood in Europe could sequester 420 million tons of carbon dioxide over the next 20 years. That amount is equivalent to a year’s worth of emissions from 71 million homes or 108 coal plants, according to Fast Company. Wood is considered a greener alternative in construction and naturally absorbs and sequesters carbon.
