This was installed on top of plywood in someone’s garage with no moisture barrier. Saved it, dried it, milled it, reused it.
Kevin Minton
Random-width engineered reclaimed oak glued down, sanded and finished with Loba.
Pete Helton Jr
Reclaimed heart pine from an 1890’s era textile mill. Used to replace a floor that was sanded too thin in a house from 1900 to be period-correct.
Stephen Young
This one is still one of my favorites, partially because it was the first one we ever did. I also like the story of where the wood came from. It came from a series of tobacco barns in the area that the homeowner grew up in.
Chris Kritzer
This year’s favorite. Reclaimed in a stone cottage. Mountain Lumber flooring, treads and risers. Finished with Woca oil.
Michael Schuetz
Custom-cut parque made from quarter and rift-cut reclaimed antique oak. We made this to the owner’s specs from a floor that he saw in a castle in Germany. Finished with a light DuraSeal stain and Bona floor finish. This was approximately 800 square feet out of 6,000 square feet of 10-inch plank we installed. It took a couple years to source enough wood.
