The Hardwood Federation is encouraging members to voice support for the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2021 (H.R. 4996). The legislation, introduced in August, would help protect the hardwood industry “from unfair ocean shipping practices that hinder the movement of products to overseas markets,” according to HF. Among other changes, the law would prevent ocean carriers from declining export cargo if the containers can be loaded safely and within a reasonable time frame. Horizon Forest Products hired Carl Bahn to its Raleigh Corporate Branch as a purchasing team member. Bahn previously worked at the company for 20 years before retiring in 2017. “We are excited to welcome Carl back to the Horizon Forest team,” Purchasing Team Leader Bev Farah said in a statement.
