U.S. Hardwood Flooring Imports Grew 35% in 2021

Hardwood flooring imports increased 35% in 2021 compared with 2020, ITTO reported.

The overall increase in hardwood flooring imports was aided by an 88% surge in imports from Brazil and a 28% increase in imports from Malaysia. Hardwood flooring imports from Vietnam increased 58% compared with 2020, and imports from Canada inched upward 6%.

“China and Indonesia were both down significantly in 2021, although both saw strong gains in December,” ITTO also reported.

From November to December 2021, hardwood flooring imports in the U.S. declined 21%. The overall month-over-month drop was driven by import declines of 16% and 28% in Brazil and Malaysia, respectively.
