U.S. Hardwood Flooring Imports Drop 2% in January

U.S. imports of hardwood flooring declined 2% in January from December, remaining nearly unchanged compared with January 2021, according to ITTO.

“Advances in imports from Brazil and Malaysia were offset by decreases in imports from Vietnam and Indonesia,” ITTO stated.

Hardwood flooring imports from China increased for the fourth consecutive month, rising 4% from December and 23% from January 2021.

U.S. imports of engineered flooring jumped 26% from December and 83% from January 2021.

“The rise was fueled by a record month in imports from Thailand, which more than doubled last month’s total and was up 476% over January 2021,” ITTO stated.
