U.S. Hardwood Flooring Imports Decline 29% in April

Imports of hardwood flooring in the U.S. declined 29% from March to April, ITTO reported.

U.S. hardwood flooring imports dropped “across the board” during the month, with imports from Indonesia and Malaysia falling by more than one third and imports from China and Brazil declining 20%.

Year-to-date, however, hardwood flooring imports increased 11%, and imports from Indonesia were more than double compared with April 2021.

Engineered wood flooring imports in the U.S. decreased 4% in April. However, Chinese imports of engineered wood flooring surged 81% during the month. Year-to-date, imports from China were up 30% in April.

Engineered wood flooring imports from Canada, Indonesia and Vietnam all declined 10% month-over-month but remained ahead compared with April 2021.
