U.S. imports of hardwood plywood increased 39.5% year-to-date in September, reaching nearly $1.8 billion, an analysis by the Decorative Hardwoods Association found. The volume of imports increased 15% to approximately 2.7 billion square feet.
Plywood sourced from Malaysia had the largest increase by value, surging 81.0%. It was followed by Indonesia (64.2%), Vietnam (56.9%) and Canada (23.5%). Plywood imports from Russia increased 17.6% in value but declined 20.5% by volume.
