Lauzon Distinctive Hardwood (Papineauville, QC) announced the acquisition of a log yard in Elizabethtown, N.Y.
The locationâs hardwood log buying and selling operations are scheduled to resume in the second quarter of 2024 and reach full potential in the third quarter of 2024. The log yard was previously operated by A. Johnson Co. and the Johnson family of Vermont. The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed.
The acquisition is one of several strategies aimed at improving the companyâs Thurso, QC, plantâs âwood diet,â according to Lauzon VP Eric Larouche. Lauzon has invested nearly $20 million in the Thurso plant over three years.
Lauzon manages over 55,000 acres of private land, two hardwood pellet production facilities, three flooring manufacturing plants and a high-grade remanufacturing joint venture. The company employs more than 800 people.
