A six-story mixed-use building in Madison, Wis., was saved by a sprinkler system on the evening of April 8 after a spontaneous combustion fire began. The fire due to "improperly disposing of oil and stain-soaked clothing," according to the City of Madison.

The alarm-monitoring company called 911 after a water flow alarm was triggered, and a resident called and said a fire alarm was sounding in the building. The fire was in a bar that was under construction on the fire floor.

The incident "shows the importance of a working sprinkler system, even when a business is under construction," the city said.
