Construction material prices fell 0.9% in May for the first time since December, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index.
Construction material prices still remain 2.1% higher than in May 2023.
The price of construction materials has sharply increased since the pandemic, with inputs to construction increasing by 41% since 2020.
