Flooring manufacturer Mohawk Industries reduced its “greenhouse gas emissions intensity” by 36% in 2023 from its 2010 baseline, according to the company’s latest sustainability report.
Emissions intensity is the amount of emissions produced per unit of economic output. The company’s surpassed its goal to reduce emissions intensity 25% by 2025 from its 2010 baseline.
Other highlights from the sustainability report show Mohawk achieved a 58% reduction in its waste-to-landfill intensity since 2010. This included the company recovering 44.9 million pounds of end-of-life products through recycling, according to the report.
“Mohawk is committed to a sustainable future through product innovation and product circularity, including carbon, waste and water reduction,” Chief Sustainability Officer Malisa Maynard said in a statement. “I am proud of the progress our global team made in 2023, and we are focused on achieving even greater outcomes.”
