Wages for residential building workers had a year-over-year increase of 9.9% in September, following another large gain of 10.8% in August, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
The average hourly earnings for residential building workers was $33.51 per hour in September 2024, increasing 9.9% from $30.50 per hour in September 2023.
The skilled labor shortage in the construction industry and lingering inflation have accounted for the recent acceleration in wages, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
