Musolf was a founding member of the National Wood Flooring Association and an instructor for NWFA schools. He was inducted into the NWFA Hall of Fame in 2001.

"He was a wonderful man full of wisdom, knowledge and kindness, and he was great to work with," said American Sanders' Daniel Boone, who taught many schools with Musolf and also attended the annual open houses at his distribution business. "He was also very generous."

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Musolf Wineman and Lynn Ostlund, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Musolf requested that memorials be given to local charities of one’s choice.
