Construction material prices decreased 0.2% from November to December but were 0.9% higher than prices in December 2023, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
“Construction materials prices declined slightly in December and are virtually unchanged over the past two years,” ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu said in a statement. “Prices for other inputs, like copper wire and cable or sand and gravel products, have escalated significantly over the past year. For the industry, however, the fact that overall input prices have remained flat in recent quarters is purely good news.”
