The International Wood Products Association met with delegation from Vietnam’s government and timber industry June 7 to discuss legal and sustainable timber trade.
Senior leaders from IWPA and the Vietnam wood products industry explored opportunities to deepen cooperation and advance goals of promoting legal and sustainable timber trade, IWPA reported. The discussions included an exchange of policy updates, trade priorities and areas for future cooperation.
“This meeting reaffirmed the strong potential for collaboration between U.S. importers and timber sectors around the world,” IWPA CEO Ashley Amidon said in a statement. “Vietnam continues to focus on advancing regulations that promote legal and sustainable timber production and trade. IWPA looks forward to building on this foundation to foster mutually beneficial trade relationships that support forest stewardship, economic growth, and international market access.”
