United States hardwood flooring imports surged by 71% in July, reaching their highest point in 14 months, according to Fordaq.
The rise brought the total value of imports to $7.3 million, representing an 18% increase compared with July 2024.
Imports from Malaysia more than tripled, reaching their highest level in 10 years. Imports from Brazil increased in July but remain down 42% from July 2024. China saw a 159% increase in imports.
U.S. imports of assembled flooring rose 4% in July after three months of declines.
Overall U.S. hardwood flooring imports are down 11% year-to-date through July and down 34% since July 2024.
