Pending home sales increased 4.0% from July to August and increased 3.8% from August 2024, according to the National Association of Realtors Pending Home Sales report.
On a regional month-over-month breakdown, the Northeast Pending Home Sales Index decreased 1.1%, the Midwest increased 8.7%, the South increased 3.1% and the West increased 0.5%.
“Lower mortgage rates are enabling more homebuyers to go under contract,” NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said in a statement. “In the Midwest, low mortgage rates combined with high levels of affordability are attracting more buyers compared to other regions.”
