Annual expenditures for improvements and maintenance to owner-occupied homes are projected to remain steady through the end of 2025 and into the middle of 2026, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies’ Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity.
The LIRA projects year-over-year spending on home renovation and repair will rise by 2.4% in early 2026 before easing to 1.9% in the third quarter of 2026.
Total homeowner remodeling spending is expected to reach $524 billion in early 2026, a record high, according to the JCHS.
