Consumer sentiment rose 2.3% from November to early December, according to the University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers. The increase was concentrated largely among younger consumers. While consumers saw a few month-to-month improvements, including a 13% increase in expected personal finances, high prices and a dismal labor market continue to cast a shadow on the year as a whole.
