Houzz: 91% of Homeowners Moving Forward With 2026 Reno Projects

A new survey of 1,034 U.S. homeowners revealed that 91% of respondents say they plan to move forward with renovation projects in 2026, according to construction and design software company Houzz. Of those, 67% report that they will maintain or expand their project scope. More than 9 in 10 homeowners plan to work with professionals in 2026 (93%). General contractors (55%), builders (33%), kitchen and bath designers (30%) and interior designers (20%) are professionals most commonly hired.

The survey also found that 44% of homeowners have completed or expect to finish renovation projects in 2025. One in five homeowners are mid-renovation (21%).

Among the 14% of homeowners holding off or canceling renovations, top reasons are that the projects are not urgent (37%) and the timing is not ideal (30%). More concerns include high prices (17%), budget constraints (17%) and economic uncertainty (16%).
