In The State of Home Service Spending report, AI field service platform Housecall Pro (Denver, Colo.) reported that out of 1,100 U.S. homeowners, 69% live in homes over 20 years old. Additionally, 72% of homeowners plan to stay in their current home for the foreseeable future, according to the report.
Other key findings:
- While 77% of owners say they are delaying or reducing the scope of home projects, nearly 80% plan to address at least one system repair or replacement in 2026.
- Of the top home projects owners plan to tackle, plumbing is first at 28%, followed by appliances (25%), exterior work (23%), HVAC (20%), electrical (18%) and roofing (14%).
- When a project costs $500 or more, 57% of homeowners say they’re likely to hire a professional.
- When pricing is higher than expected, 68% of homeowners will get other quotes.
- When financing is offered, 62% of homeowners are likely to move forward with a project.
