Law enforcement agencies from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru coordinated with UAE’s International Initiative of Law Enforcement for Climate to seize 280,450 cubic meters of illegally harvested wood during Operation Green Shield 2026 in July, according to a report by Reuters.
Ranked one of the largest international policing operations in history, the seizure was led by the UAE from a command center in Bogotá, Colombia, and deployed more than 3,600 law enforcement personnel, resulting in 839 arrests. It targeted criminal networks involved in illegal logging, illegal mining, land grabbing and related crimes.
Seized goods, including wood, minerals, mining equipment and fuel, were valued at more than $280 million in total.
