Mohawk Industries (Calhoun, Ga.) announced the retirement of Jeff Lorberbaum, its CEO of 25 years. Edge Summit 2027, Mohawk’s flooring retailer conference, will be Lorberbaum’s last official industry appearance.
In 1976, Lorberbaum joined the family business, then a carpet and rug manufacturer called Aladdin Mills. He held several leadership positions, including vice president of operations from 1986–1994. In 1994, Aladdin merged with Mohawk to create one of the largest flooring manufacturers in the United States.
Lorberbaum became president of Mohawk in 1995, and CEO in 2001. He spearheaded acquisitions that expanded the scope of the company into hard surface flooring and extended its reach across new geographies.
Paul De Cock, the company’s current president and chief operating officer, will take over as CEO on Sept. 30.
