Construction associations are teaming up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week to urge construction workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it’s available to them.
The Associated General Contractors of America will distribute educational materials regarding the vaccine. AGC has also issued a public service announcement urging construction workers to be vaccinated.
“Construction workers have long looked after the welfare of their colleagues, reminding them to stay safe, wear the right gear and be aware of their surroundings,” stated Stephen Sandherr, AGC’s CEO. “Getting their shot is another way that workers can protect their colleagues, as well as their loved ones and community members.”
Other construction institutions joining in on promoting the vaccine to construction workers this week include the Construction Industry Safety Coalition and the National institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which will host a webinar for the industry April 21 at 2 p.m. EST.
“The construction industry showed America how to work safely during the early days of the pandemic,” Sandherr added. “And now we are going to show America how important it is to get their vaccines as soon as they can.”
