Shaw Industries (Dalton, Ga.) announced it has sold its solid hardwood flooring assets to Beasley Flooring Products (Macon, Ga.) for an undisclosed sum.
The sale included two hardwood flooring mills, one in Franklin, N.C., and one in Bryson City, N.C., that together employ 169 people who will retain their positions under the new ownership. The sale was finalized March 29.
Shaw, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, said it will continue to provide solid hardwood flooring products for its customers by outsourcing the manufacturing to Beasley.
“After careful consideration, we have determined that outsourcing this portion of our business is the most effective way to serve our customers,” Executive VP of Operations David Morgan said in a statement. “Beasley has long been a leader in the forest products market and has been a Shaw supplier for years. We are confident that our partnership will make the transition a smooth one.”
Beasley Flooring Products is a subsidiary of the Beasley Group (Hazlehurst, Ga.), which oversees a diverse range of operations, including sawmills, timberlands, wood pellets, energy generation, hardwood veneers, flooring, wood shavings, matting and mat installation.
Beasley Group President and CEO Darrell Beasley said the company plans to continue to expand its operations.
“We’re excited to welcome our new employees into the Beasley family. We value our long-term partnership with Shaw and look forward to providing all our customers with high quality products to meet their ever-evolving needs,” Beasley stated.
Shaw will continue to operate manufacturing facilities for engineered wood flooring, carpet, resilient, tile and stone flooring.
