U.S. hardwood flooring imports declined 3% in May, continuing a downward trend after a 14% drop in April, the International Tropical Timber Organization reports.
Hardwood flooring imports from China continued to climb back after an 85% plummet in March, growing 51% in May. Year-to-date, Chinese hardwood flooring imports are down 58% and are barely half of what they were in May 2019, according to ITTO.
Hardwood flooring imports from Malaysia continued to rise, surging 90% in May, while imports from Indonesia dropped 72%. Hardwood flooring imports from Vietnam are up 10% through May.
