Today we went to start a 1,500-square-foot sand and finish job. Well, it was not ready for us. So rather than not make any money this week I called a job to see if we can start early and the good news was we can. So we were able to do what I love most: remove carpet and take out pressboard all day long...not. It is a pain to remove the pressboard because you cannot pry it up and if you cut it up the mess takes forever to clean up. We take a cats paw and pull the nails so we can take up full sheets of the junk. We have done it all kinds of ways and this seems to be the best for less mess.

At the end of the day I went to Big Sandy, Tenn., to look at a water-damaged floor; it will have to be taken out to fix it. It's a factory-finished micro bevel gunstock that cupped so bad the boards split and splintered. It is about 200 feet-no real big job or big deal, we just have to undercut the cabinets and pull the dishwasher. The install will be easy and no sand and finish-one of the jobs you need to do but just will not make money on.
On a side note, here's a funny story about Big Sandy: About 15 years back (before I moved here), I was deer hunting here. I needed to take a deer in for processing, but the place we take them to was full, so my uncle said take it to Big Sandy. I thought Big Sandy was a person, not a town. When everyone was saying over and over to take it to Big Sandy, I figured that I had to see if Big Sandy was really a big person or a small person with the nickname "Big" because she was small. So as we were driving past Springville, Tenn., I saw a sign that says, "Welcome to Big Sandy." As I told the story to my uncle (who was driving) he began to laugh and look at me like I was not right in the head.
