Well I must say that the class went great and I enjoyed seeing everyone again. My part of the class is driven to the machines; Steve let me take some time to show folks how to set up the sanders, dress the edgers and do preventative maintenance. It was good to show a few guys the edger "clocking" and how the belt sander can be used to do more than just walking back and forward. A couple of the guys told me that they have never seen this stuff before and it made them think-think about how they will make changes to their sanders and their sanding style, and how they will add a few tricks to the jobs.

I enjoyed the class a bunch to say the least; it was fun to be back in the saddle again. Sharing what little insight that is in my head and giving back to hardworking people truly is a blessing from above.
Now on to the real day in the life of Wayne... I popped my back today so it was a trip to the doctor to get put back in place. My leg is hurting more than my back and it seems I have two bulging disc now, oh joy.
We started a 700-foot resand of 3-inch Southern white pine after the doctor visit; it has been a task because the last time it was done, the homeowner did the work. Well, now they see that they messed it up bad. "DIY gone bad" were his words. The edger ate the wall up like a soup sandwich, and the main floor has so many drum marks that it looks like a rototiller did the sanding. I started late and only got two cuts done along with the rough cut on the edger. I should be able to get it sealed before the end of the day. The only hangup in the timeline is we (Joey and I) have to final-coat a job Friday morning, then run back to the pine job. One more late day on the way… The good news is the high school football team has a bye this week. Timing is everything (football in the South)!
Joey was hanging trim today while I was lying in the doctors office, and he found one mistake from the install: We forgot to cut out a vent in the floor. So he went from the basement and drilled four small holes and used the jig saw to cut it out ... funny, don't you think. It must have been a long day for us; the good news is we found it and fixed it.
